Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for assisting in the setting and implementation of communications programs at the business division level of the Space Systems Group. Duties include performing external and internal communications specifically relating to media relations, employee communications, branding, event planning and community relations policies and practices for Divisions within the Group. They will also support Business Development exhibits and events within the guidelines and in coordination with the Operating Group and Corporate communications functions. The position directly reports to the Head of Communications for the Space Systems Group.
Assist the Head of Communications in implementing proactive media relations strategies for Group and (4) Divisions.Includes tracking editorial calendars of national, local and industry media outlets.
Develop and write press releases, web articles, fact sheets, brochures, social media content as needed at Division level.
Manage internal communications activities at Division level including generating content for intranet and digital monitors and posting the material on communications platforms.
Assist in guest operations and media relations for launches and other prominent events.
Assist in community relations efforts at Division level with input from Division GM’s and input from Head communicator.
Maintain and post editorial calendar for Group with input from Group Head Communicator.
Ability to travel.
A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field with 2 years of experience.
Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Familiarity with SharePoint and other intranet capabilities. Proficient with social networking sites and blogs. Ability to work with new tools and communications technology.
Excellent writing and communication skills, ability to meet strict and frequent deadlines, self-motivated with ability to work independently, problem-solver, inclusive, team player who can generate measurable results in promoting accomplishments of the Space Systems Group.
