Lead Thermal Analysis Engineer

  1. Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Will provide direction and guidance for the Thermal Analysis Troup, perform a variety of specific professional engineering tasks of an analysis, design, or test nature. Apply theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of basic analytical engineering problems. Select and/or modify proven methods, mathematical formulas, previous design and test information, handbook data or other available information related to the assignment. Daily responsibilities will require thermal analysis of avionics, structures and liquid propellants. Candidate will be responsible for performing heat transfer analysis of components on the ground and in space. Candidate must be able to provide direction and address issues using skills obtained in the field of Mechanical Engineering, or related thermal sciences, preferably as it relates to missile and space systems.



    • Perform duties specific to Lead Thermal Analyst

    • Must be a subject matter expert

    • Use classical heat transfer methods and software to predict temperatures and design thermal protection of rocket components on the ground and in flight

    • Proficiency with thermal software (Sinda/Fluint, Thermal Desktop and ATAC)

    • Interpret, select, and apply company/commercial/military specifications and customer requirements to accomplish specific analyses

    • Produce engineering documentation and technical reports/analyses to support design, integration, and testing efforts

    • Candidate shall be responsible for gathering, compiling, and manipulating technical data such as laboratory or material test reports

    • Other duties upon request 

    Experience Required

    Past experience of aerospace thermal analysis required.  Ability to perform fundamental analytical modeling techniques and prepare written analyses is required.  Experience with launch vehicles and/or space vehicles in preferred.  Experience with Thermal Desktop preferred.  Working knowledge of MS office, Matlab, ATACH, and Sidna/Fluint desirable.  U.S. citizenship required.  Active secret clearance preferred.  Must be able to attain secret clearance. 


    A Bachelors Degree (BA/BS) in  Engineering, Physics.  MSME, MSAE preferred. Minimum of four years experience in aerospace or related field.
