Job Summary

Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. Performs material flow analysis, cycle time analysis, and value stream mapping. Develops facility layouts and Manufacturing Plans.

Job Responsibilities

  • This position reports to the Engineering Manager, Electrical Production Engineering and is responsible for providing manufacturing engineering support to Precision Weapons, Guided projectiles, Ammunition and Fuzing segments. 
  • Develops      manufacturing processes and documentation that insures hardware and test      articles meet engineering and configuration requirements.       Ensures manufacturing processes are thoroughly      evaluated, are effective and have addressed all risks.
  • Coordinates builds of electro-mechanical      assemblies to support programs that are in engineering and manufacturing      development as well as production.
  • Contributes to completion of      specific program and project milestones.
  • Resolves      complex manufacturing process issues. Improves manufacturing efficiency by      analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Participates in design for manufacturability efforts from engineering      development through  new production introduction
  • Evaluates      and dispositions discrepant hardware.       Leads      failure investigations, root cause determination, and corrective action implementation using multiple tools; 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 5D,      etc. Implements corrective actions. Evaluates corrective actions for effectiveness.
  • Communicates      manufacturing plans and processes to internal and external customers      through Manufacturing Readiness reviews.
  • Designs and procures specialized tooling and fixtures. Evaluates high      dollar equipment and tooling for annual capital expenditure review.
  • Conceptualize and implement      continuous improvement projects internally and with suppliers.
  • Prepares and delivers technical presentations to manufacturing      leadership for review and approval.
  • Educates/trains      operators on new and existing processes. Trains/mentors lower level      manufacturing engineers.
  • Implement and manage strong      manufacturing engineering principals to ensure robust manufacturing      process and high product quality.       Examples are SPC, P-FMEA, Mistake Proofing, gage R&R, equipment      and gage qualifications, Design for assembly, and First Article      Inspections.

Education and Experience

Requires BS in Engineering & 10 years or Masters in Engineering & 7 years or PhD in Engineering & 5 years.
