Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

This position is for an temporary Project Employee with an assignment duration of 4-6 months through end of year.

Job Summary

The Sr. Designer-PE will create models and engineering drawings utilizing Unigraphics NX 11.0 and Teamcenter. Will also be responsible for checking drawing/design packages for proper content and to ensure compliance with applicable industry and military standards.  Duties will include checking designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and economy of fabrication and be able to perform tolerance analysis. Responsibility will further include liaison with Engineering, Manufacturing, quality, and Materials.  Some vendor liaison will be required as well.

Experience Requirements:  

  • Candidate must have a minimum of five years of related experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be a graduate of a CAD/Drafting/Design/Computer Aided program
  • Must be experienced with Unigraphics NX 11.0 and Teamcenter
  • Must be experienced with geometric dimensioning and tolerating per ASME Y14.5M-199A
  • A working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and Mil-Standard 100 is also desired.

 Skills & Qualifications:

  • Fundamental knowledge of CAD drafting practices.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately while under schedule pressure and exhibit a large degree of patience.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. 
  • Must be a graduate of a CAD/Drafting/Design/Computer Aided program

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or related field is required.
