Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Desktop Technician to join the Information Technology team supporting our Rocket Center, WV location.

Job Duties:

  • Tier I and Tier II user support and problem solving
  • Performs troubleshooting and root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions and prevent recurring issues
  • Installs, configures and maintains computer hardware, peripherals and applications consistent with IT standards and processes
  • Researches, designs and tests standard enterprise image builds, and establishes processes for ongoing activities
  • Works with other IT team members to develop technical design of desktop/laptop technologies, and coordinates and implements desktop related projects as required
  • Performs system or network administrative functions such as reviewing of system logs and back-up activities
  • Uses Help Desk/Tracking System to document issues and resolutions
  • Establishes strong working relationships with vendors and other infrastructure and security support teams to collaborate and adhere with standards across the enterprise
  • Stays current with new and emerging technologies and recommends implementation to improve customer satisfaction, reduce cost and/or provide a competitive advantage
  • Develops/maintains support document for use by all levels of support personnel as well as end-user documentation
  • Maintains hardware/software inventory and ensures licensing compliance
  • Provides off hour on-call support when required
  • Perform monthly maintenance on unclassified and classified systems including install Microsoft patches, McAfee Anti-Virus and perform system/baseline audits
  • Active Directory administration (Permissions, domain adds/edits)
  • Server administration
  • Network trouble-shooting (check ports, patch-thru’s, basic port-config)

Qualified candidate must meet the following physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to spend an entire work day on their feet (walking, standing, crawling under desks)

Technical Requirements:

Qualified candidate should be able to accomplish all of the following tasks with minimal supervision:

  • Resolve problems related to hardware, software, and network
  • Create, maintain and follow standard work documents and checklists
  • Install and configure software
  • Solve problems with applications, printers, projectors, desktops, and phones
  • Proficiency working in a Microsoft operating system environment
  • Unbox, stage, install, and configure new computer systems
  • Experience using drive imaging tools
  • Follow established processes
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Security + Certification (preferred)
  • Knowledge about IT security procedures (preferred)
  • Experience in classified environments as an ISSM/ISSO (preferred)
  • Proficiency working in a Linux operating system environment (preferred)
  • U.S. Government (DoD) security clearance (preferred), have had one in the last 18 months or the ability to obtain a clearance


  • Candidate must have a minimum of 4 years technical support experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Position is located in Rocket Center, NY.
