Orbital ATK, Armament Systems is seeking a Program Manager to support our Medium Caliber Guns Segment located in Mesa, AZ.

The position’s primary responsibilities will focus on internal execution of production contracts by leading an established Integrated Project Team (IPT).  The selected candidate will further support financial planning, reporting on program execution, and supporting proposal activities related to the product portfolio.

Position Description:

This position is responsible for the following:

  • Managing the daily execution of programs within the construct of the product portfolio and the Guns Production System
  • Leading and directing the Integrated Project Team (IPT)
  • Establishing and monitoring program budget and schedule, utilizing Earned Value principles and tools
  • Actively managing risks by identifying potential issues and incorporating mitigation plans
  • Establishing and clearly communicating program objectives and performance to Guns Segment and Division leadership
  • Driving timely decisions within the IPT and providing recommendations to the Portfolio Manager
  • Building and maintaining successful relationships with current and prospective customers in the product portfolio
  • Supporting the growth of the product portfolio through capture and proposal activities
  • Supporting the Portfolio Manager in executing the strategic plan for the product portfolio

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in engineering, business, or related discipline
  • Ten years of professional experience in a relevant manufacturing environment
  • Three to Five years of program/project management experience in a leadership role with direct responsibility for program profit and loss. (P&L)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to manage a cross-functional, self-directed team in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated ability to manage revenue, profit and cash performance of programs
  • Ability to operate in an international business environment
  • Strong formal and informal communication skills with all levels of internal and external management
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management and Lean/Total Quality Principles
  • Experience in Program Baseline Execution
  • Defense Industry and DOD contract experience desired
  • International business experience desired
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to manage risk to reduce likelihood and severity of program impacts
  • Able to travel both international and domestically up to 25% of the time
