The Orbital ATK Missile Defense and Controls (MD&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton MD&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers.  The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA.


  • Perform acceptance test on incoming raw materials
  • Preparation of analytical solutions
  • Draws samples of chemicals from the field to be tested
  • Perform "wet chemistry" testing in the Quality Control Laboratory
  • Prepare reports and submit them to the area supervisor


  • B.S. Degree or higher in chemistry or science plus four years of  analytical lab experience 
  • (At least four years of analytical testing )
    • Karl fisher moisture determination
    • pH
    • specific gravity / density
    • acid/base titration simple and complex (colorimetric and potentiometric)
    • iron determination
    • digestions with Bunsen burner and muffle furnace
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work overtime
