Under moderate supervision, perform testing and on-console activities involving satellite operations during launch and early orbit support or long-term operations. Advises leads or management of satellite or ground systems failures or degradation and predefined recovery procedures.
This position supports the Mission Extension Vehicle (MEV) program. Primary duties include working under the direction of the MEV Ground Segment Lead to support readiness activities in preparation for MEV launch.
- Set up and configure ground communication support, validate and execute pass plan, monitor and review telemetry. Inform leads and/or management of out of limit conditions and failures. Advise leads or management of predefined recovery procedures.
- Provide input for mission planning/scheduling.
- Run post pass analysis, archival and data processing routines.
- Provide inputs to operations logs.
Pre-launch this position will support a 9/80 work schedule (activity permitting). After launch, this position will support real-time spacecraft operations, requiring work on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience
Generally requires HS
Requires a combination of 2 years of education and relevant experience in space operations. Education can be through the military, from a relevant technical school, or as part of BS program in engineering, physics, or computer science.
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Working knowledge of computer technology, communications theory, and networking. and satellite operations. Knowledge of multiple operating systems (e.g. UNIX, Windows, LINUX) desired.
