Principal EHS Engineer- GBSD Program Requires Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is looking for an experienced Principal EHS Engineer to join our team within the Launch Vehicle Division at our Chandler, AZ facility to support the GBSD Program.
As the lead System Safety Engineer for GBSD, ensure that the system safety program meets all applicable Range/System Safety requirements levied onto multiple concurrent GBSD launch contracts. This includes leading the GBSD System Safety effort and interfacing with internal and external customers including representatives of the Ranges, the customer (payload), program management, engineering, production and the Integration and Test team. The lead System Safety engineer will lead a multi-disciplinary team to tailor Range Safety requirements documentation (RCC-319, RCC 324, AFSPCMAN 91-710, etc) with the Ranges and associated engineering disciplines. Leadership of junior System Safety Engineers may be included in this effort. The lead System Safety Engineer is responsible for scheduling and managing all System Safety related activities. This position will generate and maintain required Range/System Safety documents (such as RSSR, ESADP, FTSR, SAR, HARs, etc) for each launch customer. The lead System Safety engineer generates and presents status charts at program, customer and Range Safety Working Group meetings. The candidate will be required to apply engineering principles to assess design compliance of a complex aerospace system, and synthesize rationale and justification for Range Safety waiver requests and hardware non-compliances. The candidate will be expected to independently identify technical issues, propose solution options, document and brief these solutions and follow through to resolve the issues with minor supervision. Some travel will be required to provide System safety support for meetings, integration and test activities at various Range sites, and launch operations.
Education and Experience:
BS degree in Engineering plus 7 years of experience or MS degree plus 5 years of experience or Ph.D plus 2 years of experience
- Systems Engineering, System Safety, Aerospace Engineering, EE, ME or related degree or equivalent is preferred.
- System Safety experience is required.
- Systems Engineering or System Safety experience with rockets or missiles desired.
- Broad experience with complex aerospace flight systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills.
- The candidate must be capable of evaluating technical system level safety requirements from the customer and Ranges; Experience with DOORS
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Requires active DOD Secret level clearance which generally requires US citizenship as a prerequisite
