Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Production Planner for our aerospace structures facility in Iuka, MS.
A degree is preferred along with 5 years related experience.
This individual is responsible for developing and maintaining resource loaded program schedules supporting the customer needs and facility requirements to ensure management and leadership visibility of internal requirements. Schedules are tracked and fully communicated to all functions on a routine or adhoc basis. Routine follow up to determine status and adjustments to mitigate any understand slips are also part of the position. The ability to make clear concise schedule changes is necessary to ensure production capacities are maintained in order to support the overall initiatives of the department. This individual will communicate the schedule status to program representatives with explanations of variance and underperforming tasks. The production planner will integrate all program requirements and maintain work center capacity information. The production planner will work closely with the engineering, quality, operations, and maintenance functions, along with the other disciplines within the organization. This position requires an individual with a strong production scheduling background who is capable of researching, gathering and assimilating information that presents a total and current portrayal of plant and program schedule visibility. A solid understanding of EVMS (Earned Value Management System) reporting within a scheduling environment is also required. They will develop "what if" scenarios presenting potential impacts to the master schedule based on suggested or forecasted changes. They will communicate the schedule as required to plant and program management at Iuka.
A high degree of data accuracy is necessary to manage the requirements of this position. Reports, charts, and metrics must be accurately and graphically presented in a manner that communicates the "so what" of the data maintained. Efforts will not only be gathered through interaction with program, facility, and functional managers, but self-directed through involvement with current processes, program schedule updates, and facility constraints or upgrades and other items that may be transmitted through meetings or email communication. Knowledge of the EVMS process in relation to the schedule and reporting environments is necessary. The individual must have a high degree of self-motivation and not be timid about obtaining any information that will create a more accurate schedule. The individual must have a tenacious approach to the position and willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure information accuracy and timely communication. The position also entails the planning and scheduling of potential facility upgrades to ensure equipment is ready to meet proposed schedule completion dates.
